Blacksad preview Pages

I have been woefully remiss in not yet composing about the exceptional Blacksad, which came out earlier this summertime in hardcover from Dark Horse. The comic, written by Juan Díaz Canales as well as illustrated by Juanjo Guarnido, beautifully blends personal eye noir with anthropomorphism. The book collects three stories, the last of which, “Red Soul”, hasn’t been presented in English before. Here’s the official marketing description:

Private detective John Blacksad is as much as his feline ears in mystery, digging into the backstories behind murders, kid abductions, as well as nuclear secrets. Guarnido’s sumptuously painted pages as well as rich cinematic style bring the world of 1950s America to lively life, with Canales weaving in interesting tales of conspiracy, racial tension, as well as the “red scare” Communist witch hunts of the time.

Dark equine has supplied this eight-page preview to show off the stunning art.
